Enter the Station and Go Through Security进站并通过安检
After this scene, you can ask where to enter a railway station, distinguish the staffed lane from a self-service gate, present your passport, and follow basic instructions for luggage and personal security checks.
Scene setup
You and your Chinese friend have arrived at the high-speed rail station. Your ticket is linked to your passport, while your friend can use a self-service gate with a readable Chinese identity document. You separate briefly at the entrance and meet again near security. Follow the station worker's instructions, put your bags through the security scanner, and go through the personal security check before entering the waiting hall.
Real-life note
At many railway stations, travelers using passports complete identity-document checks through a staffed lane unless their document can be read by the available self-service gate. Keep the original passport used for booking ready. Luggage is screened by machine, while travelers pass through a separate security gate and may receive an additional personal check.
Core dialogue
You bought your ticket using your passport, so you need to use the staffed lane. I can use the self-service gate.
The staffed lane is over there, right? Then I'll go join the queue.
Okay. I'll go in first and wait for you near security.
Hello. Please show me your passport.
Okay. Here you are.
That's fine. Please go forward and put your luggage on the security scanner.
Does my backpack need to go on it too?
Yes. Both backpacks and suitcases must be screened. Please walk through the security gate.
Okay.
You got through security? It went smoothly, right?
I also had a personal security check. I was a little nervous just now.
You'll be fine once you're used to it. Let's go find the ticket gate.

Common mistakes
Small fixes that make your Chinese sound natural.
1. Use 用 for the booking document
Not natural
你是护照买的票。
Natural
你是用护照买的票。
Why
用 introduces the document or method used to buy the ticket. Without 用, the relationship between 护照 and 买票 is incomplete.
2. Separate the luggage scanner and security gate
Not natural
您从安检机过去。
Natural
您从安检门过去。
Why
Bags pass through the 安检机. A traveler walks through the 安检门.
3. Do not confuse entering with ticket checking
Not natural
我们从哪个检票口进高铁站?
Natural
我们从哪儿进站?
Why
The station entrance leads into the waiting area. The 检票口 is used later, when passengers are admitted toward the platform.
